Viking Technology Introduces VT-PM Family of NVMe U.2 Persistent Memory Drives

SAN JOSE, CA – May 8, 2018 – Viking Technology, a division of Sanmina Corporation (Nasdaq: SANM), today announced its new VT-PM8 and VT-PM16 persistent memory drives that deliver performance and unlimited write endurance similar to that of DRAM, while simultaneously providing the data persistence desired for enterprise applications. VT-PM drives, part of Viking’s family of persistent memory technology  products, are 2.5 inch U.2 NVMe PCIe Gen3 drives built with architecture from Radian Memory Systems Incorporated.

The new VT-PM8 and VT-PM16 drives’ U.2 NVMe PCIe interface allows enterprise customers to use persistent memory, unseen in the market today. Previous persistent memory architectures using DDR4 module interfaces can limit the ability of plug-and-play capability. By offering persistent memory with the industry standard NVMe interface, customers are able to access memory via normal block or programmed I/O byte addressable access, without special firmware or hardware requirements.

Achieving FDA registration at its Chennai manufacturing facilities is an important milestone that builds on Sanmina’s leadership in global medical device and instrument manufacturing. Tuning into Success – Tyndall and Sanmina Partner to Develop Sub-GHz Wearable Health Monitoring Platform

January 10, 2018 — Tyndall and Sanmina Corporation have announced a research collaboration, which will focus on the development of a novel wireless technology for a commercial wrist-worn health-monitoring platform. This platform will wirelessly monitor heart rate and arterial oxygen saturation (SpO2). Led by the Wireless Sensors Network (WSN) group at Tyndall, the objective of this research partnership is to improve the performance of these wearable platforms by providing more energy efficient wireless communications when compared with existing technology. The project is being funded by Enterprise Ireland through their Innovation Partnership Programme.

At present, Bluetooth wireless technology is in widespread use for short-range wireless sensing applications. It operates in the 2.4 GHz frequency band. However, at these frequencies, the human body has a significant effect on antenna performance, signal reliability and communications range.

As part of the collaboration, Tyndall will develop a sub-GHz wireless solution that has significant benefits for wearable sensing applications when compared with existing 2.4 GHz solutions. These benefits include the use of lower power radio technology that leads to increased battery lifetime; the provision of additional communication channels to mitigate current 2.45 GHz saturation in hospital environments; decreased signal loss due to the human body; and increased immunity from radio frequency interference.

Patients are set to benefit from the provision of longer-term, continuous health monitoring due to low power operation, which increases the chances of early detection for critical conditions and diseases.

Carlo Webster from Tyndall’s Commercial team comments: “The 915MHz band with integrated antenna is targeting a significant improvement to current Bluetooth protocols which currently operate at 2.4GHz.  This band is primarily absorbed by the human body thus depleting battery life because of the human environment. This new RF approach along with some patented technology by Sanmina Corporation may lead to opportunities to integrate the technology into their respective customers’ wearable systems, thus enabling longer battery life for future wearable systems.”

In particular, the goal is to develop a novel sub-GHz antenna design with high immunity to human body effects and combine this with state-of-the-art, low-power radio transceiver technology. This will enable improved reliability of wireless communications and increased battery lifetime that will in turn open up new opportunities in application areas such as personalized medicine and health and wellness applications”.

SCI Technology, Inc. Hosts Officers and Senior Civilians From U.S. Army Program Executive Office, Missiles & Space

HUNTSVILLE, Alabama, December 5, 2017— SCI Technology, Inc., a Sanmina company (NASDAQ:SANM), last Friday hosted a group from the Army’s Program Executive Office, Missiles and Space (PEO MS). This meeting with PEO MS supports the professional development of U.S. Army management personnel through broad exposure to SCI Technology, a leading provider of advanced space, missile and defense systems.

On Friday, December 1, twenty four Army Officers and Senior Civilians from PEO MS visited SCI for an up-close look at a leading Department of Defense (DoD) contractor. Sessions included product demos, a tour of SCI’s extensive DoD manufacturing operations, as well as a Q&A session with SCI’s senior leadership team.

PEO MS provides centralized management for all Army tactical and air defense missile programs and selected Army Space programs. Its mission is to develop, field and sustain missile and space systems that provide a decisive battlefield advantage for U.S. Army, joint and coalition warfighters.

Visiting SCI represented a valuable development opportunity for the PEO MS professionals based on SCI’s extensive experience in the Defense & Aerospace sector. In addition to current projects in military and commercial aviation and ground tactical communications, SCI has also designed, manufactured and supplied mission-critical components for numerous space flight and missile defense programs.
