HUNTSVILLE, Alabama, September 24, 2018 — SCI Technology, Inc., a Sanmina company (NASDAQ:SANM), today announced that its AeroGuard™ CUAS (Counter-Unmanned Aircraft Systems) product has been named the 2018 Drone Security New Product of the Year by Security Today magazine. The AeroGuard™ team will be recognized with an award at the ASIS Global Security Exchange (GSX) trade show this month in Las Vegas. AeroGuard™ will also be highlighted in the November/December 2018 issue of Security Today and on their website, SecurityToday.com.
The Security Today New Product of the Year Award honors outstanding product development achievements by security equipment manufacturers whose products are considered to be particularly noteworthy in their ability to improve security. More than 100 entries were received in the 10th year of this independently juried contest.
“SCI is extremely proud to see AeroGuard™ recognized by a publication as prestigious as Security Today,” said Mike Underwood, president of SCI. “Solutions that effectively serve the Counter Drone market are becoming increasingly important. SCI’s achievements and deep expertise with aircraft and defense technology have resulted in real innovation in Aeroguard’s design.”
AeroGuard™ is SCI Technology’s fully autonomous, rapid-response drone interdiction system that captures, tows, and disposes of any unauthorized unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) described under FAA Part 107 regulations. UAVs are emerging as an unpredictable and potentially harmful threat to people and property. To date, ground based defense and security systems have not proven effective in deterring or interdicting weaponized UAVs. AeroGuard™ was designed specifically to safely capture a range of UAV’s and has demonstrated its effectiveness in several tests.
“This is the 10th year that we have sponsored the New Product of the Year contest, and each year I am amazed at not only the quality of the products but the intuitive nature behind the development of the products,” said Ralph C. Jensen, editor-in-chief and content director of Security Today. “There is real genius behind the products that have been entered, and I’m pleased that we can help bring this new technology to the forefront of the security industry.”
