SAN JOSE, California, Aug 14, 2017 – Newisys, a Sanmina (Nasdaq: SANM) product division, today announced that its Newisys NVMe (NVM Express) Fabric Storage System, in conjunction with partners Kazan Networks, IBM, Intel, and Mellanox Technologies, won the Best of Show Innovation Award at the 2017 Flash Memory Summit in Santa Clara, California.
The Newisys NVMe Fabric Storage System (NDS22482F) with Kazan Networks Magma™ NVMe over Fabric bridge adapters delivers industry leading performance of less than 7 microseconds of added latency over native SSDs, more than 60 GB/s (gigabytes per second) of total bandwidth, and more than 15 million total IOPS (input/output operations per second).
“Flash memory is being used today in new ground-breaking ways and storage networks are evolving to leverage the performance and scalability that can be achieved with NVMe over Fabric solutions,” said Jay Kramer, Chairman of the Awards Program and President of Network Storage Advisors Inc. “We are proud to select Newisys along with their partners Kazan Networks, IBM, Intel, and Mellanox Technologies for the Best of Show Innovation Award for its innovation in raising the bar to new levels of performance, scalability, and interoperability to address the demands of mission critical business application workloads.”
“We are extremely proud to accept this prestigious award, and I applaud the entire Newisys team for their hard work and dedication to bringing this ground-breaking technology to our customers,” said Eugene McCabe, EVP Enterprise Computing & Storage, Newisys. “This award validates our commitment to innovation with an NVMe over Fabrics solution that achieves new levels of performance. We extend our appreciation to our partners for collaborating with us on this solution and we thank the Flash Memory Summit for this honor.”
Newisys NVMe Fabric Storage Systems are optimized to maximize the performance of data center environments—especially those using SSDs with Intel Optane (3D XPoint™) technology—without compromising management, reliability, availability, or serviceability. The full performance potential of storage based on non-volatile memory (NVM) unlocks by connecting the Newisys NDS22482F to switched fabrics using six (6) 100Gb PCIe over Ethernet links, unlike traditional all-flash arrays (AFAs). Unlimited scale-out is possible with the Newisys NDS22482F because while every unit connects directly to the storage fabric, all remain centrally managed.
The Newisys NVMe Fabric Storage System model NDS22482F, as demonstrated at the 2017 Flash Memory Summit, is designed for No Single Points of Failure (NSPOF) and consists of a fully integrated rack-mountable chassis occupying two rack units (2RU) of space and including:
- Up to twenty-four (24) U.2 NVMe SSDs supporting single x4 or dual x2 PCIe 3.0 interfaces,
- Single or dual and redundant NVMe fabric modules supporting up to three (3) full length x16 PCIe 3.0 bridge adapters each, and
- Dual and redundant AC or DC power supplies with cooling fans and independent power inputs supporting loads of up to 1,500 Watts each.
